I have Office Professional Plus, which was purchased through my employer. I lost the product key info when a storage drive crashed and died. I dug out the disc that was sent to me by Microsoft after I downloaded Office, but it does NOT have a product key sticker inside the cardboard holder. The Microsoft site said to ask the employer. The employer does not have product keys, this was an optional offer from Microsoft, which I paid for with my own money.

It was not a firm wide license. I wish to install Office on my new Windows 8 laptop. Is there any way for Microsoft to confirm I do in fact have a legit license? All my Office applications say it is licensed to my name and shows a particular product ID number. But if I cannot get the product key I will just use Open Office. There is no way I am paying for another copy of Microsoft Office when I put the version licensed to me on only one computer, less than a year ago. This thread is locked.

MS expects users to keep track of their own product keys.
