We’ll see if this helps because I deliberately set the Sleep to “never” because when the computer was going to sleep, it would never wake up. After upgrading to Windows 10, but not before. I tried shutting down and when I came back about 30 minutes later, the computer had rebooted. The good news is, at least after it went to sleep, I was able to wake it up easily.
After a couple of reboots, Santosh’s response above seems to have at least partially fixed the problem for me. The computer now shuts down when I want it to. The only problem is, on a couple of occasions, it’s shut down on its own not gone to sleep when left unattended for a couple of hours. Now I understand. In fres way it’s a good thing that it shuts down immediately as it gets you out of things like infinite loops. No serious issues will occur in my app if the graceful shut down doesn’t happen.
The connection to the database will time out anyway, even if safari for windows is not explicitly closed and the logging isn’t vital.
My question was really about being able to check that code will be run, with the right values, in the event of an unusual shutdown but I guess I can find that out by running the exe instead.
