I had started with season 3, and now seeing season 1, everything makes more sense! For the sake of other Hazel fans I hope more season 1 becomes available because I’m thinking this was the best, So far so light hearted, and even saying prayers with Hazel by the bedside the way I was raised , and all the familiar ways of life, before computers, cell phones, and Xboxes, and who knows what scary things are around the corner that are taking humanity away Anyway, I can see why Shirly Booth won Academy’s for her acting!
God bless her for agreeing to do this show it’s the best!! Please lower your price on these fantastic shows!! Of all of the shows that came out of the ‘s Hazel is my absolute favorite. I was one of those people who probably saw more than my share of the sitcoms from that decade, but most of them, in my mind doesn’t even begin to hold a candle to HAZEL.
She was your all-around busybody. She was always in everybody’s business. She was always a Miss-Know-It-All. She was always fixing everybody’s problems. And she tried to be a friend to everyone. I’m not quite sure if I could stomach a person like her.
She is likable, She is even lovable, and I can see where she would really bug me. But she would probably be great as a friend, though. I bought this first season after learning that the next three were available.
I had wanted to purchase this season for awhile but I didn’t want to start buying another series that wasn’t being released. The exception is, there is some sort of Promotional Material on Season 4, but that isn’t what I am referring to. Griffin, both wind up in bed with a cold, Hazel nurses the both of them. This is the episode that introduces the character Mr. This is the only episode in this season that is in color. Plus, The “Hazel Theme Song” disappears after this episode.
This is the only episode that George’s sister Phyllis and her husband Sam appears on the show. Phyllis was also the “sweet sister”. The introduction of the opening of the show changes on this episode.
Hazel comes out of the front door and waves to The Baxter’s, who has returned from a trip. She rushes out to the car and hugs everybody. The client sees Hazel as someone who is meddling in his business. So he demands that Hazel be fired. George disagrees. Hazel quits, but not for real, to work for The Johnson’s.
Then her petition to prevent “Rainbow Lake” from being drained falls through and it becomes a thing of the past. And Hazel returns home. But George intervenes and tries to set Stan up with one of his partner’s sister, which Hazel cleverly sabotages. When the cast is run at the end of this episode, Miss Lewis played by Renee Godfrey is mistakenly named as Miss Johnson.
She was never referred to by that name. Besides, their was already a character name “Harriet Johnson”. Griffin is working George into a nervous breakdown so he decides to get an assistant and Hazel thinks she has the perfect choice.
But the idea interferes with Deirdre’s plans for George. Season One is the only season with this many episodes. Unfortunately, all of the main cast are gone. I have looked up just about all of the actors and actresses who were on Hazel and all but a few are left.
All of the actors who played “The Blake”s are all alive. She was a friend at “Krystle’s Bachelorette’s Party. Among the main cast, Bobby Buntrock passed away first, in Then in the early ‘s Shirley Booth passed away.
Then not long after that, Don Defore passed away. And last, but not least, the beautiful Whitney Blake passed away, in It’s a shame that none of the cast lived long enough to see this series come to DVD. But even then I would think that there might have been some archived interviews somewhere. Maybe there is something on “YouTube”. Also Whitney Blake was the first defendant on the “Perry Mason” series. Baxter, Its stuffed pork chops, your favorite!
When Hazel came out in , I was still a baby not even old enough to turn on the TV. I was finding that I wasn’t really happy with the current offerings of the TV networks. Then, something finally struck me. Instead of trying to find new shows that would fit my needs, I looked started to look for old shows. I bought the first season and I am so glad I did. Hazel is a TV show that is still entertaining, and full of a cast of characters from the full spectrum what TV offers.
There is Mr. Baxter, who is “the boss of the house”, and his wife Dorothy, who understands Hazel and sides with her position quite often. And, their son, Harold who adores Hazel. Baxter’s sister, Deidre, could be described as a snooty, upscale snob who really sets off fireworks in the personality differences that she and Hazel have.
All in all, Hazel has a kind personality, and is liked by everyone. While Hazel admits that she hasn’t much real education, and has attended “hard knocks university”, she is so wise to other people and their needs.
In the Thanksgiving episode, Hazel can immediately tell that Mr. Baxter’s widowed mother, played by Harriet E. Mac Gibbon Mrs. Drysdale of the Beverly Hillbillies wanted to help prepare dinner and feel needed again. In a strong protest, Mr. Baxter didn’t want his mother cooking on Thanksgiving. I hope that everyone enjoys “My Reviews”. As a child, I remember loving this show, along with the other classics of the late s and s. Although too young to remember some of them, I was old enough to remember Hazel.
The family consists of “Mr. B” the attorney and head of the family, although if truth be known, I always felt Hazel was the one in charge. Missy, George’s wife, has known Hazel since she was a child and is the perfect complement to her husband. An interior decorator with excellent taste, she and Hazel have a very loving relationship and Missy can be counted on to run interference when Hazel and Mr.
B butt heads. Then there is the adorable Harold, better known as “Sport,” who is such a sweet little boy who worships Hazel and considers her a hero. The acting is superb and the storylines are anything but sappy. This series proves that wholesome programs have a place in society and with it, there is always a valuable lesson to be learned.
And while all of them are no longer with us, it is comforting that their brilliance is on record and the days when the simple things were the best can truly live on! Season two has come out but the digital transfer is not so hot. Washed out prints but they seem intact. Funny the first season had one color episode that was exceptional about Hazel buying a color tv set.
I just don’t understand why any after that would look worse. Shirley Booth plays that character so well sometimes I can’t stand her. I want to strangler her and fire her, dang Mr. B takes alot crap from Hazel. This is a comedy cause in real life I can’t see a maid taking over and ordering a family like she does. But its that premise that makes the show work. She has the perfect big mouth and annoying voice Hazel should have.
But at the end of every episode the main moral is be who you are and be proud of it. Sometimes Hazel bums out just being a maid but helps people with their everyday lives by being a nosy and caring person about humanity. A variety of episodes deal with Hazel putting snobs in their place. Glad to see season three so soon after two came out. I like season five cause when they switched networks Hazel got a new Baxter family to take care along with Harold Bobby Buntrock the only original cast member to stay with the shows new format.

Hazel: S1 E18 – Hazel’s Secret Wish
This is the third episode in this Season that “Dorothy” does not appear in. Note: We see Dorothy running after Charlie in this episode. Dorothy is never seen running. There isn’t any mention of their relationship in these two part episodes, though she uses the same first name. Unfortunately the Model’s Name is not mentioned on the Ending Credits. Neither is it on the IMDb for this episode. The hat was attractive. But when an important situation come, she declines her raise.
Cady”, played by “LEO G. But her resistance to getting Glasses pays off for George when she gets the information on a Telegram wrong.
Then when unpleasant changes start happening at The Baxter’s House, it almost destroys her. Then when an item at “The Johnsons” come up missing Willie is suspected. He was 87 Years Old. He was 67 Years Old. That was when I learned of his Death. The odd thing is this information about his death has only recently been revealed.
Unfortunately I haven’t any further information of his death. He was the Player with the “Number 7” on his Football Shirt. He was the only Player who had a Number on his Shirt. He is “68 Years Old”. I’m Happy to have contributed to the reviews of this Wonderful Old Show.

In a strong protest, Mr. Baxter didn’t want his mother cooking on Thanksgiving. In an even stronger protest, Hazel quit on the spot, telling Mr. Baxter she needed some help. Baxter’s mother gladly volunteered and won the right to help Hazel. In this TV show, you will not find violence, sexual overtones, scandal or anything of that nature. Your Grandmother and your Pastor could watch it without worry.
What you will find is a great TV show, that is easy to watch, and worth watching again, and again. This is an entertaining sit-com from the early, innocent s. The show is completely carried by Shirley Booth, who can go from being funny, to endearing, to exasperating with the greatest of ease. Don Defore plays Mr. Baxter Mr. B and the show is really about the relationship between Hazel and Mr.
B, who seldom is of the same mind as his maid. Whitney Blake plays the charming wife, Mrs. Baxter Missy , who Hazel has known since she was a child. She’s one of the most attractive TV actresses ever, I think, and invariably is a supporter of Hazel. Bobby Buntrock plays the obligatory cute son, Harold. Sadly, all 4 of these actors have left us, but the show remains well worth seeing.
Better than anything on TV today. Harmless, quality television with a great actress in the title role. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. LOVE hazel and this is exactly what is says it is Report abuse. Love It!!!!!!!!!! I love just how un-complicated even the most complicated things are from this era It would be nice if we could get a little of that back today. Hazel runs the house but I like how she lets Mr. Baxter think he does! My favorite thing about little Harold is that he never talks, he yells all of his lines, he’s always SO exicted and Dorothy, well, she’s the perfect housewife who happens to have a maid and works part time as an interior designer.
Shirley Booth absolutely shines as Hazel A hidden gem to be sure! For anyone who likes good clean humor Hazel is for you! You would think that a TV show about a maid would be boring I mean what could they write about.
There are many laughs and silly situations to keep you interested. Hazel is a strong-minded fully rounded character that has a lot of heart. Her love for the family she works for is evident in every thing she does, even if she is scheming to get her way and giving her blunt opinions about everything! The family loves her just as much as she loves them! I would recommend this show to everyone ; When is the second season comming out, I can’t wait!
